On 31 May, the ‘National Intelligent Sensor Joint Laboratory – Intelligent Driving and Cockpit Industry Exchange Conference’, organised by the National Intelligent Sensor Innovation Centre, was grandly held in Shanghai. The conference featured extensive exchanges and discussions on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which focus on external vehicle intelligence, and intelligent cockpit systems (infotainment), which focus on in-vehicle intelligence. The event received strong support from the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, and was enthusiastically attended by numerous organisations across the industry chain, including automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), ADAS system integrators, automotive sensor companies, automotive electronics research institutes and automotive AI firms.

The National Intelligent Sensor Innovation Centre is dedicated to establishing a platform for sensor technology innovation and application; the Centre’s exhibition hall showcased a range of new sensors and intelligent solutions applied in the fields of smart vehicles and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Dr Lu Yumin, General Manager of Shanghai Sijie Microelectronics, was invited to deliver a special presentation entitled ‘Millimetre-wave Radar Chip Technology and New Product Introduction’, in which he formally introduced two new automotive millimetre-wave radar chip products from Sijie Microelectronics: the SRK1202 24GHz integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) single-transmit, dual-receive millimetre-wave chip, and the SRV3401 77GHz triple-transmit, quad-receive millimetre-wave chip.

The SRK1202 24GHz one-transmitter, two-receiver millimetre-wave chip with an integrated phase-locked loop is housed in a 6 mm × 6 mm QFN package. Its key features are: (1) a 24GHz chip with higher integration, incorporating a fractional-frequency phase-locked loop and a transceiver, capable of supporting various modulation modes such as FSK, FMCW and LFMSK; (2) It offers excellent millimetre-wave front-end performance; (3) It significantly reduces radar system costs, simplifies board-level design, and helps customers bring competitive products to market more quickly;

The SRV3401 utilises a SiGe BiCMOS process and an FCBGA package measuring 7.5 x 8 mm², and is characterised by: (1) the ability to support MIMO multi-antenna configurations by cascading multiple chips, thereby enhancing the radar’s angular resolution; (2) a signal bandwidth of up to 6 GHz, which significantly improves the radar’s range resolution;

Shanghai Sijie Microelectronics is a leading domestic company specialising in the development of millimetre-wave radar chips. In 2017, it launched the first highly integrated 24GHz radar SoC with independent domestic intellectual property rights, The launch of the SRK1202 and SRV3401 chips completes the company’s millimetre-wave automotive radar chip product line, making it the first company in China capable of simultaneously providing both 24 GHz and 77 GHz radar chips.
